Botanic Name: Saraca Indica

Country of Origin: India

Also Known As: Ashoka Bark, Saraca indica Bark, Ashoka Tree Bark Chips

Part Used: Outer bark of Saraca indica in cut and sift (C/S) form

Description: Ashoka Tree Bark C/S is produced from the outer bark of Saraca indica, a tree native to the Indian subcontinent and grown in tropical regions of South and Southeast Asia. The material consists of firm, fibrous bark pieces that range from reddish-brown to deep brown in colour, with a naturally woody aroma and a coarse, textured surface. In its cut-and-sift form, the bark is processed into small, uniform pieces that retain the tree’s natural grain patterns and structural characteristics.

Production begins with the careful removal of mature outer bark from sustainably managed trees. The collected bark is thoroughly cleaned to remove field debris and naturally occurring surface matter. It is then dried under controlled conditions to reduce moisture while preserving its colour and texture. After drying, the bark is mechanically cut and sifted to achieve a consistent particle size, leaving the material in a natural, intact botanical form suitable for various dry applications.

Uses: Ashoka Tree Bark C/S is used in crafting, botanical displays, resin work, incense-related projects, and educational herb collections. Its natural colour, firm structure, and recognizable botanical appearance make it suitable for decorative blends, artisanal creations, and study-oriented uses where the visual and textural qualities of intact bark pieces are preferred.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
