Botanical Name: Pimpinella anisum

Country of Origin: Egypt

Description: Anise Seed Whole consists of the dried seeds of Pimpinella anisum, an aromatic annual herb native to the eastern Mediterranean region and now cultivated in various warm, temperate regions. The seeds are small, curved, and ribbed, typically light brown to greyish-brown in colour, and retain the natural aroma and appearance characteristic of the plant.

The production process begins with harvesting the mature seed heads once they have dried on the plant. The seeds are separated, cleaned to remove natural field material, and further dried to achieve a stable moisture level suitable for storage and use. After drying, the whole seeds are sorted for uniformity in size and colour, with no milling or additional processing applied. They remain in their intact botanical form.

Anise Seed Whole is commonly used in culinary applications requiring its natural sweetness and aromatic profile. The seeds can be incorporated into baked goods, spice blends, teas, pickling mixtures, and savoury recipes where whole botanicals are preferred. They may also be lightly toasted or infused to release their flavour in cooking processes. Beyond cooking, whole anise seeds are suitable for crafting, potpourri blends, scented sachets, and educational displays that highlight traditional spice ingredients.

Their preserved shape, texture, and visual appeal make them useful in projects that benefit from intact dried seeds.

Storage: should be cool, dry and, most particularly easy to ventilate.
