Country of Origin: Bulgaria

English Name: Marshmallow Leaves C/S

French Name: Feuilles de Guimauve Coupées et Tamisées

Also Known As: Althaea Leaves C/S, Dried Marshmallow Leaves, Cut & Sifted Marshmallow Herb

Part Used: Aerial parts (leaves) of Althaea officinalis

Description: Marshmallow is a perennial herb native to Europe and western Asia, commonly growing 60–120 cm tall with erect stems and soft, velvety green leaves that are slightly lobed and covered in fine hairs. The plant produces pale pink to white flowers in summer, and leaves are harvested when fully developed to preserve their natural green colour, soft texture, and botanical character.

The leaves are slightly thick, soft, and velvety with a mild, earthy aroma. Once dried, they retain their shape, colour, and natural leaf structure, providing a uniform, visually identifiable cut and sifted herb suitable for blending and storage. The texture and appearance of the dried leaves maintain their botanical integrity for various applications.

After harvesting, the leaves are carefully cleaned to remove stems, dust, and debris. They are then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to preserve colour, texture, and natural characteristics. Once dried, the leaves are cut and sifted into uniform pieces and sorted to remove fines and broken fragments, resulting in a clean, free-flowing botanical ingredient.

Uses: Marshmallow Leaves C/S are used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, culinary preparations, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Their soft texture and uniform leaf pieces make them suitable for blending into mixtures, infused preparations, and creative applications where natural leaf appearance and botanical authenticity are desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in an airtight container. Refrigeration not required.
