Origin: Asia
English Name: Juniper Berries Powder
French Name: Poudre de Baies de Genévrier
Also Known As: Ground Juniper Berries, Juniper Powder, Dried Juniper Berry Powder
Part Used: Dried berries (cones) of Juniperus communis
Description: Juniperus communis is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to Europe, Asia, and North America, commonly growing 1–4 metres tall with needle-like green leaves and bluish-purple berry-like cones. These berries take up to two to three years to mature and are harvested when fully ripe to capture their natural colour, firm texture, and distinctive botanical character.
The mature berries are round to oval with a smooth outer skin and grow individually or in small clusters along woody branches. After drying, they retain their dark blue to purplish colour and identifiable botanical features, making them suitable for milling into a fine, uniform powder that blends evenly with other ingredients.
After harvesting, the berries are cleaned to remove stems, needles, and field debris, then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to preserve their colour and texture. Once fully dried, they are milled into a fine powder and sieved to remove coarse particles, resulting in a clean, free-flowing ingredient suitable for blending, storage, and multiple applications.
Uses: Juniper Berries Powder is used in culinary recipes, spice blends, marinades, tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative displays, and educational herb collections. Its fine texture allows it to blend easily into dry mixes and creative preparations where botanical aroma and flavour are desired.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
