Botanical Name: Marrubium Vulgare

Origin: Asia

Common Name: Horehound Herb C/S

English Name: Horehound Herb Cut & Sifted

French Name: Herbe de Marrube Coupée et Tamisée

Also Known As: White Horehound, Marrubium Herb, Dried Horehound Leaves, Horehound Cut Herb, Marrubium Leaves C/S

Part Used: Aerial parts of Marrubium vulgare

Description: Horehound is a hardy perennial herb native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia, typically growing 30–60 cm tall with square, woolly stems and rounded, grey-green leaves covered in fine hairs. The plant produces small white flowers in dense clusters along the stem during summer, and the aerial parts are harvested at peak growth to capture their natural colour, texture, and botanical character.

After harvesting, the leaves and stems are cleaned to remove dirt, excess stalk, and debris. The plant material is then dried using controlled low-temperature methods to preserve the soft, silvery-grey colour and slightly textured leaf surface. Once dried, the herb is cut and sifted into uniform pieces, maintaining visible leaf and stem fragments.

The cut and sifted horehound is sorted to remove fines and broken fragments, resulting in a clean, free-flowing botanical ingredient. This process ensures consistent size, colour, and quality, making the herb suitable for blending, storage, and a wide range of applications.

Uses: Horehound Herb C/S is used in tea-style infusions, herbal and botanical blends, flavouring preparations, culinary recipes, craft projects, cosmetic formulations, decorative herbal displays, and educational herb collections. Its distinctive appearance and slightly bitter aromatic profile make it suitable for botanical mixtures, flavour development, infused preparations, and creative applications where identifiable leaf and stem pieces are desired.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
